Our History
In 1962, the farm was bought by the Wells brothers – Eric and Clive.
By 1994, the brothers wanted to retire and the site was bought by the Chapman family – that’s us.
In the years since, with three generations of Chapmans working in the business, our company has expanded considerably. While we have kept the name, we are no longer simply a sand and ballast works, but a fully-fledged builders merchants. We specialise in Indian Sandstone slabs, block paving, rockery stones, aggregates, and more.
Despite the size and reach of the company, the works itself has kept something of the old farm’s nostalgic charm. Many of our customers turn up in their wellies and gloves to sort their own rockery stones or granite setts.
With so many of our customers saying they never knew we were here, Coming up with a slogan was simple –
“Bexley’s Biggest Secret”
After all, here is this tiny side-road beside the old church leading to a 65-acre farm and its thriving family business.
So come and visit us down at Manor Farm. We have a patio displaying samples from our extensive range of slabs and block pavers that we supply. This gives you a better feel for our products than just flicking through an online catalogue.
We can also supply you with the numbers and details of reliable and reputable landscapers. These are companies whose work we can recommend based on personal and professional experience.
We look forward to seeing you.
Remember, turn down the small road by the old church! We welcome visitors from Bexley and the surrounding areas to come and visit us at Manor Farm. This includes our valued customers from Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Crayford, Swanley, Dartford, Erith, Barnehurst, Eltham, Welling, Bromley, Chislehurst, and Orpington.
